The campsites at Valley of Fire, a state park in Nevada, have a reputation for being hard to get, as they are often booked out many weeks in advance. But like the National Parks, cancellations are common, and with a little diligence and a little flexibility, you can find something.

Our first nights with the Noovo were in the Atlatl Campground, albeit in two different campsites (there’s that flexibility).  

Valley of Fire is not a large park, at around 46,000 acres, a little bigger than Yosemite Valley, but it offers a series of extraordinary landscapes of color and alien rock shapes
